Today we board a boat that takes us to the Island of Janitsio in the middle of beautiful Lake Pátzcuaro.Janitsio is famous for the butterfly fishermen who lower their butterfly-shaped nets to catch whitefish.

The boat ride is so much fun. Musicians played on the boat and the teachers enjoyed dancing!

The island is a busy and colorful place where people live ,work and play. The winding narrow streets lead steeply up to the statue of Jose Marie Morelos .He is a symbol of freedom for the Mexican people. There is a steep winding staircase that you can climb inside the statue. There are murals painted inside.Squeaky ,Ms. Michele,Mr. S and I climbed all the way to the top !

After we returned from the island we went to the lovely city of Morelia. The place where we ate is one of my favorite restaurants ever.
