Today we visited the Miguel Hidalgo school in Santa Fe.
This is a school that is located on the shore of beautiful Lake Patzcuaro. We had to walk up a
steep hill past homes and farms to get to there .
This is a bilingual school where the children
learn to speak Spanish and the P'urhépecha language which is still spoken by more than 100,000 people in Michoacán.
This was a wonderful day for all of us. We loved visiting
with the children as much as the butterflies. Maybe it is because the children at the school reminded me so much of you. It
is a good thing my camera battery ran down. I would have had more pictures, but I would not have been able to have as much
fun playing!
I wish you could have met these children who are so much
like you . You all would have had such fun playing in the rain! We played Duck, Duck, Goose and a lotto game. I shared the
photos and books you made. They loved the friendship quilt you created and it will hang in the preschool classroom. We all
learned a new way to play marbles. I can't wait to teach the game to you!
